Bake sales and school project

AstherAsther Bratley, has done some fantastic fundraising through a bake sale where she made flapjack and lemonade and made £78.70 for the charity!  Here is a photo of Aster’s stall – we wish that we’d been there to try them ourselves!

She said she wanted to raise the money for Small Steps because she was ‘shocked when I heard that children as young as me (I am only eight,) had to live on the dumps. The main reason I support them is because they have such different lives to me and my friends’.

Not only has Asther been baking but she also did a school project about Small Steps Project. She said, ‘I first learnt about Small Steps when I did a school project. I was glad that some of the girls had some friends but shocked when I heard about their lives and what they find on the dumps. I didn’t win the school project but I am glad I joined in because I ended up learning a lot about Small Steps. The thing that stood out to me most was that the CHILDREN only earn £1 on a lucky week and only spent it on rice!’
