Dame Judi Dench
Doyenne of stage and screen and a career spanning some 60 years, Dame Judi Dench is one of Britain’s best loved and critically acclaimed actresses She’s garnered countless awards for her work in theatre, television and film, including BAFTAs, Laurence Oliviers, Golden Globes, Tonys and an Oscar.
Judi Dench starred in the James Bond franchise for nearly 20 years as Bond’s MI6 handler M until she met a brutal end in 2012’s Skyfall.
She has twice played Queen Victoria, first in the Oscar nominated Mrs. Brown opposite Billy Connolly, and again in 2013 in Victoria and Abdul, which explored the relationship between the monarch and her Indian clerk and friend Abdul Karim
Dame Judi’s India connection continued with the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and its sequel, following a group of ageing Brits seemingly about to retire in luxury in a subcontinental hotel.
