Considered to be one of the greatest, most influential skippers of all time, cricket legend, Steve Waugh revolutionised the way cricket was played by injecting the game with a killer streak.
Waugh captained the Australian Test cricket team from 1999 to 2004 and up until 2010 and was the most capped Test cricket player in history with 168 appearances. Under his captaincy Australia were unbeaten for 16 Tests in the 1999-2000 season and won three consecutive World Cup wins.
Off the field, Steve Waugh is a prolific and committed philanthropist, “If you don’t help people who are in need, it’s just not cricket”. In 2014 he was named Australian of the Year in recognition of both his sporting achievements and charity work.
